Welcome to the Colour Me Positive, a weekly creative challenge where you get to express yourself with some art making using the weekly prompt below. Use the quote, image or colour frame to inspire you to express yourself creatively. You can use all three elements or just one. It’s up to you.
Creating something artful can seem very risky for some. Or maybe we want to try something new but feel anxious about trying because we’re just not sure. Take the risk of trying anyway. Not so because you you might get it right, but because while you might do it awkwardly and you will learn from the experience.
This week I’m sharing art work created by Jan Pendergast for the Week 3 prompt about being unique. Jan creates very interesting pictures with her mix of doodling and drawings. And I really love how she creates layers of colour with her cross hatching colouring technique. You can find more of Jan’s work at her Facebook Page Jan Pendergast’s Art. I asked Jan to tell us a little bit more about herself.
I live in Brisbane, Queensland, and joined CMP at the start of last year. I have been drawing for most of my life, all self taught. While writing this little profile on my art life , it got me thinking about all the amazing changes that have taken place in the art and technological world, especially in the last 10 years . 20 or 30 years ago , when I was laboriously doing my finely detailed works in graphite, or an old pen and ink method, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that there could be something like our wonderful CMP group, or all the other great ways for us as artists to connect and support and inspire each other on the internet , all over the globe .
The Colour Me Positive community has a Facebook page where art is shared and relationships are built. Sharing is optional but positively encouraged. You can find the Facebook Group HERE
