Welcome to the new home for Colour Me Positive

Hello!!

If you have landed over here because you clicked on the link from the LuluArt blog, email, or Colour Me Positive facebook group I want to extend a huge welcome to you. By now you are aware that there are a few changes going on with this creative challenge group and I’ve put my hand up to keep the wheels turning on a group that is not only special for many of its members, but also special to me.

Who am I?

So who am I? I am Theresa Miers and I am a creative, much like you. Some of you know me well, some of you may know of me and others probably have never heard of me before now. So for the benefit of all I’ll introduce myself properly by telling you a bit more about myself and my connection to the Colour Me Positive facebook group and the Lulu Art Store that got this group started.

Art supplies,yeah!!

Several years ago I was just a wee bit excited that I found an art supply store that not only sold the kinds of art supplies that I was interested in, but it was within cooee (Aussie expression for nearby) of my sister-in-laws home. From then on I planned all future trips around my dollars and time budget when visiting the area so I could go art shopping at Lulu Art. When Lisa, the then owner, decided to start a facebook group to encourage art through positive inspiration, I was in! It didn’t take me long to find some new friends as a direct result of this group.

In time, with Kylie as the new and present owner of the Lulu Art Store, I got an exciting opportunity to do some video tutorials for the shop, showing how I use some of my favourite supplies and tools in my art. As exciting as the opportunity was, and glad that I took the challenge on to learn new skills, I felt it really wasn’t for me so I decided to not pursue it again for 2018. But just as one door closed another opened when Kylie asked if someone was interested in keeping the Colour Me Positive group running. I put my hand up.

So here I am. I hope you’ll join me here in this new space dedicated just for the Colour Me Positive prompts and inspirations, especially if you are used to getting your notifications via email. If you still want to get the emails you will  need to sign up again HERE. Unfortunately I don’t possess the skills to transfer all current subscribers to this new address at this time, so I’m asking for your help with that small part so I can keep working on all the other good stuff.

What I am working on.

What is staying the same?

  1. Weekly prompts
  2. Colourful inspiration
  3. Positive inspiration
  4. Colour Me Positive facebook group
  5. Weekly emails

What will be different?

  1. A new website dedicated just for the weekly prompts.
  2. A new subscriber email sign up (sign up HERE if you haven’t already done so)
  3. The graphics will present differently. I hope you like the new format.
  4. A small write-up about my musings about the prompt for the week to encourage participation.
  5. No weekly prizes. Sorry (not sorry), we’re in it for the love of it now.

What I would like to change?

  1. You may have noticed that there are ads on this site in its present form. I’d like to change that. Working on it.
  2. Include some short and sweet video art jump starts.
  3. Maybe an Instagram Colour Me Positive account if there is enough interest.
  4. Hire a cleaner.

I love to support creative poeple

So whats in it for me?

Work. Good work. Meaningful work. Work that I feel called to do. Work that will be of service to the Colour Me Positive community. Sometimes when I set out to create it’s just for fun and discovery. But a lot of the time I call it my work because I feel I have a job to do. I call it work, not because it’s unfun, but because I think it is worth my time to invest in it. I love being creative and I love to support creative people and taking on this role lets me do all that. I feel confident that I have made a good decision for the CMP community by saying yes to this opportunity to keep this going. I know it will be a good year.

Please join me either by signing up  HERE  for email updates when the new prompts go live each week

OR

if you aren’t already, come and join us at the Colour Me Positive facebook group where our members upload and share their work within the community

Thank you!

  1. Wishing you all the best for 2018 as you take on the Colour Me Positive. I’ve added my name to the email list and look forward to taking part for the first time in the New Year.

  2. I like to include the prompt on my page, so I appreciate shorter quotes. I hate my handwriting, so I usually use stickers or computer-generated words. Just my thought; I’m sure short quotes are not always possible.
Thanks for keeping the group going; it is very much appreciated!

  3. Last year was a non-starter for me, things were really bonkers around here. But, I want to begin again and look forward to doing that, I definitely need the prompts. Thank you for stepping up and being willing to keep us going, I look forward to the experience. I have added my addy to the email.

    1. Thank you Ruth. Sometimes life steers us onto a course that seems to pull us away from our desires but we always get pulled back. We have to trust our life processes as well as our art processes. Welcome!

  4. I agree with Linda about the prompts…..verbose sayings are very hard to add when you are using smaller journals (My personal challenge when we started in 2016, was to confine myself to a 5.5 x 8 inch journal)
    Cheers and good luck!

  5. I’ve thrilled you’ve decided to continue in 2018 and look forward to seeing where it goes. I’m happy with any format or quote length etc because, as artists, we can make it our own anyway 🙂

  6. Thanks Theresa for jumping in to host CMP for 2018. I did 2016 and loved it but found it to open difficult to keep up in 2017. Going to try again this year and I’ll be really interested to see how it works in the new format….may even get me back to bloggingagain…which I’d like.
I can’t seem to work out…would we post pictures here…or still on FB? Or link to our own blogs? Hope it’s ok to ask questions….
Also a fan of shorter quotes…and also……not too cheesy…..just me….a word is cool too…love those really interesting ones that you have to actually look up….even more fun!
    Many good wishes to you.

    1. Thanks for all that feedback. The fb group is a great place to share your work. I don’t know how you would share a photo in the comments in the blog post and they will most likely be overlooked by the community here. If you are on other social media sites you can use the hashtags on the graphic to connect with others. Well done on starting your blog. I went and had a look. That exactly how I started. Sharing what I had made on challenges. I’ll concider all your suggestions. Thank you

  8. So excited to finally be able to do this as I just about done with my Master degree (just student teaching now). I can finally breath a little and take an hour or two to do something fun that energizes me. Thank you for doing this. I followed last year but was not able to do anything but admire and wish I could. Thanks again!
